    Hibiscus Iced Tea Spritzers

The highlight of this refreshing tea is the lovely hibiscus blossom. We created this sparkling Hibiscus Iced Tea Spritzer from our Organic Hibiscus tea, a vibrant dose of lime, and a drizzle of honey for a cocktail that's wonderfully sweet and tart for any warm-weather event. Inspired by the ruby red beverages found at roadside stalls in the tropics, we are sure you will love it.

As herbalists, we're not surprised to see hibiscus-infused cocktails in tropical locales like the Caribbean or Mexican beach towns, where people are likely aware of the hibiscus plant's cooling properties, according to traditional herbal energetics theory. Hibiscus bushes and trees are native to India, West and East Africa, and there are hundreds of kinds. Hibiscus is a popular flower for daily tea because of its refreshing and somewhat acidic flavour and its therapeutic benefits. A cooling cardiovascular tonic is the most traditional.

This ice-cold, effervescent spritzer is destined to become your new favourite summer drink, and it's the ideal herbal beverage for a day at the beach, fun in the sun, or pool parties.

    Ingredients:

    • 7 heaped teaspoons of Organic Hibiscus flower tea
    • Honey, or your prefered sweetener
    • a quarter teaspoon of cinnamon powder
    • 6 limes
    • 1 litre of bubbly water
    • 2 cups iced water

    Directions:

In a heat-safe container or saucepan, bring 2 cups of water to a boil and pour over tea bags.

Steep for 10 minutes, covered. Excess tea should be squeezed out of tea bags and discarded.

Mix in the honey and cinnamon powder until thoroughly combined. This transforms into a herbal syrup.

    Allow 20 minutes for cooling.

Squeeze in the limes and transfer to a serving pitcher.

Fill the pitcher halfway with sparkling water and add ice.

Serve with lime slices, candied hibiscus fruit, or berries as garnish.

    Serve and have fun!
